NJ Electrical Safety (NFPA 70E 2021)
This course equips electricians and other workers exposed to electrical hazards with knowledge needed to apply safety requirements from the NFPA 70E. We start by detailing the arrangement, scope, and purpose of the document, as well as define common terms. Then, we discuss securing an electrically safe work condition, lockout/tagout, energized work, grounding electrical equipment, arc flash and more. In summary, we clarify NFPA 70E safety practices used in the electrical industry. This course has no prerequisites.
NJ Wastewater Treatment Processes
This course provides an overview of wastewater treatment, including the physical separation of solids, chemical treatment processes, biological processes, and solids treatment and disposal.
NJ Maintaining Wastewater Equipment
This course provides details on a variety of wastewater equipment, including pumping stations, screening equipment, grinding equipment, grit removal systems, sludge and scum collection apparatus, and flow measurement devices. For each piece of equipment, we will cover major parts, start-up, operation, shutdown, maintenance, and safety.
NJ Introduction to Water Technology
This course introduces operators to the hydrologic cycle and its effects on the structure and functions of water and wastewater systems. From there, we discuss water collection, treatment, and distribution, as well as the physical, chemical, and biological properties of water.
NJ Water Distribution System Operation Overview - 4 Hours
Water Distribution System Operation Overview is a course designed to give an overview to water treatment and distribution operators of water distribution components. Including: Pipeline operations, Meters, Valves, Hydrants, Pumps and Motors, Groundwater wells, EPA Groundwater rules and Water Quality issues in a distribution system.
NJ Valve Maintenance and Piping System Protection
Covers maintenance and operation of gate, globe, ball, plug, check, and special-purpose valves. Details actuators and various accessories. Explains valve selection based on application. Describes methods of protecting piping systems. This course has no prerequisites
NJ Pump Installation and Maintenance
This course introduces operators to pumping systems, hydraulics, basic pumping terminology, and pump curves. We will also look at a number of pump types, including end-suction centrifugal pumps, propeller pumps, turbine pumps, and rotary pumps. For each pump type, we’ll discuss internal parts, construction, and operation. This course has no prerequisites.
NJ Piping Systems: Part 1
This course introduces operators to piping systems and familiarizes them with the larger components that make piping systems function, including metallic and nonmetallic piping, tubing, and hoses.
NJ Piping Systems: Part 2
This course dives further into piping systems by discussing the smaller components that make piping systems function, including fittings, common and special valves, strainers, filters, traps, and accessories. Preventative and repair maintenance for these components are also discussed.
NJ Pumps: Part 1
This course introduces operators to pumping systems, hydraulics, basic pumping terminology, and pump curves. We will also look at a number of pump types, including end-suction centrifugal pumps, propeller pumps, turbine pumps, and rotary pumps. For each pump type, we will discuss internal parts, construction, and operation.
NJ Pumps: Part 2
This course continues looking at additional pump types, including reciprocating pumps, metering pumps, and special purpose pumps. For each pump type, we will discuss internal parts, construction, and operation. We also discuss sealing devices, including packing and mechanical seals, bearings, lubrication, and installation.
NJ Pipelines - 2.5 Hours
Pipelines is a course that focuses on the all the components of the pipelines that deliver water, including: pipes, meters, valves, hydrants, pumps and motors, horsepower and SCADA systems. It also covers the EPA groundwater rules and distribution system water quality issues.
NJ Pumps and Motors - 2.5 Hours
Pumps and Motors is a course that details the types, components of and the proper maintenance steps for water pumps and the motors that drive them.
NJ Disinfection - 2 Hours
Disinfection is a course that focuses on the critical role that pathogen inactivation plays in the surface water treatment process and how necessary it is in producing safe drinking water that meets US EPA standards.
NJ Membrane Processes - 1.5 Hours
Membrane Processes is a course designed to introduce water treatment and distribution operators to the operation, uses and types of membrane processes including reverse osmosis, nanofiltration and electrodialysis reversal.
NJ Basic Electrical Concepts for Water Operators - 2 Hours
Basic Electrical Concepts for Water Operators is a course that covers the fundamental electrical principles that water operators need in their day-to-day operations.
NJ Corrosion Control - 2 Hours
Corrosion Control is a course that focuses on the importance of producing a properly balanced as well as various types of corrosion control methods for the protection of distribution systems.
NJ Advanced Oxidation & UV Disinfection - 1.5 Hours
Advanced Oxidation and UV Disinfection is a course designed to introduce water treatment and distribution operators to the operation, uses and types of advanced oxidation and UV processes including ozonation and ultraviolet treatment.
NJ Fluid Mechanics
This course explains how fluids behave, especially under pressure and in motion. This lesson is divided into two major parts. The first concerns fluids at rest and describes the properties fluids have when they are standing still. The second half treats the subject of fluids in motion.
