What are the CE requirements for New Jersey water operators?

License Types:

  • Industrial Wastewater Treatment System (N License)
  • Public Wastewater Collection System (C License )
  • Public Wastewater Treatment System (S License)
  • Public Water Distribution System (W License)
  • Public Water Treatment System (T License)
  • Very Small Water System (VSWS License)

The number of TCHs required every three years for each license is as follows:

  • C-3, C-4, N-3, N-4, S-3, S-4, T-3, T-4, W-3, W-4: 36 hours (maximum of 12 hours will be accepted in Safety related training)
  • C-1, C-2, N-1, N-2, S-1, S-2, T-1, T-2, W-1, W-2, CN, NN, NS: 18 hours (maximum of 6 hours will be accepted in Safety related training)
  • VSWS: 12 hours (maximum of 4 hours will be accepted in Safety related training)

Courses approved by the Department of Environmental Protection.

The last two digits of the course number show what type of credit each course is approved for:

  • -10 is Water Technical Credit
  • -11 is Water Safety Credit
  • -20 is Wastewater Technical Credit
  • -21 is Wastewater Safety Credit
  • -30 is Water/Wastewater Technical Credit
  • -31 is Water/Wastewater Safety Credit 

 

State Of New Jersey Water Operator License Renewal Deadlines

  • A New Jersey Water and Wastewater Operator license renewal must be completed by September 30 every year.
