This specialized training program focuses on the parts and functionalities of water distribution systems (WDS). The online course provides Minnesota water operators with a broad overview of WDS designs, methods for ensuring water quality and EPA safety guidelines.

Core topics include:

  • Key WDS components (pipelines, meters, valves, pumps, motors and hydrants)
  • Organizational patterns
  • Common storage practices
  • The importance of SCADA systems in sophisticated WDS designs
  • WDS maintenance and repair procedures
  • Environmental and safety considerations

The course material is divided into modules for simplified learning. While the training does not require a final exam for completion, a review question will be provided at the end of each section to test participants’ knowledge of the content.
