This course will fulfill 3 of your required hours for Alabama water operators.
This course will provide an overview of Coagulation and Flocculation, two vital parts of the process of water treatment. Students will learn about:
- Coagulation - Coagulation is a process in water treatment that helps to cluster dirt and suspended particles found within source water together into larger particles, called floc. Learn about the types of chemicals used in coagulation and the proper use of these chemicals.
- Flocculation - Flocculation is a slow mixing operation which accelerates particle collision, causing the agglomeration of particles into settleable floc. Flocculation takes place after the coagulation process and prior to the sedimentation process. Learn about various flocculation methods and their effectiveness.
